More About Us

Our Students/Learners/Experiencers...

  • Thrive in a non-competitive, laid-back environment. You prefer a down-to-earth space that’s free from perfectionism or comparison. You want to explore at your own pace in a welcoming, non-judgmental community, where teachers and facilitators are attuned to individual needs and offerings are tailored to the different folks who arrive.

  • Embrace mindfulness in everyday life. You're interested in more than just physical practice—you want to cultivate mindfulness, reduce stress, and improve your mental and emotional well-being through yoga. You aim to integrate yoga’s principles into your daily routines through meditation, breath work, and mindful actions.

  • Want variety in your yoga practice. You're open to exploring different styles of yoga, from dynamic Vinyasa to restorative practices like Yoga Nidra, in addition to the yoga of everyday life, seeking a well-rounded approach to wellness, connection, relaxation, and personal growth.

  • Value self-expression and creativity. You enjoy a practice that allows for exploration and individuality, and want to be part of a community that encourages creativity, both on and off the mat.

We're stoked to have your support! Here's how you can join up.

We're interested in working with folks who...

  • Vibe with our Mission and Vision.

  • Offer (or plan to offer) free, pay what you can, or low-cost classes, events, workshops, gatherings, etc. These can be on a regular basis or one-offs, online or in-person.

  • Value collectivity and are interested in sharing your skills and resources with a group of like-minded folks.

  • Don't mind being labeled "weird".

  • Aren't interested in gatekeeping or negging.

  • Enjoy learning from and respect others' contributions based on authenticity, creativity, merit, and quality, rather than white supremacist concepts of perfection, grind, paid-for certifications, and hierarchy.

  • Would like to be featured on our website, social media, and newsletters.

You don't have to be a yoga teacher. Please get in touch and let us know what sort of offering you have in mind. We're super open to brainstorming sessions & collabs! Tell us the level of group involvement you're thinking of, and where we can learn more about you. We'll review and get back to you with more information in a timely fashion!

We’re not contortionists. We’re folks who love to feel well and explore movement alongside a welcoming community. We prioritize functional movement and breath awareness over flexibility.

We like to nerd out. From anatomy to philosophy, we dive deep into the why and how of yoga, offering knowledge that empowers our practice and everyday life.

We love making things and expressing ourselves through art, music, poetry, crafts, food, anything creative. Our offerings go beyond yoga poses; we explore the interconnectivity of human emotion, inspiration, and freedom.

We love to listen and share our humanity, in all its confusing messiness. We think human stories are not only interesting, but vital in helping us inch closer to the goal of collective liberation.

And we love silence. In stillness, we find clarity. Meditation and mindful pauses are just as essential to our practice as movement and creation. These moments guide us to reflect and reconnect.

Mission

Our mission is to create welcoming and inclusive spaces wherever we meet, so individuals can explore their unique journey through yoga and community gatherings. We are dedicated to fostering authenticity, creativity, compassion, and knowledge, empowering our community to connect with their bodies, minds, and hearts. Whether through dynamic Vinyasa flows, calming meditation circles, Poets’ Lounges, or creative workshops, our goal is to offer diverse, accessible practices that support personal growth, healing, and connection. We are a sanctuary where everyone is encouraged to embrace their inner weird and their inner warrior, exactly as they are.

Vision

Our vision with Weird Warrior Yoga Group is to cultivate a vibrant, compassionate community where people of all backgrounds can come together to grow, heal, and thrive through the transformative power of yoga. We envision a space where creativity, authenticity, and knowledge are at the heart of every practice, inspiring individuals to live with greater awareness, balance, and joy. Through diverse and inclusive offerings, we aim to empower each person to embrace their unique path, fostering a culture of connection, self-discovery, and lasting well-being.

Values

  • Authenticity

  • Creativity

  • Compassion

  • Knowledge

  • Collective Care

For as long as I can remember, I've been one of the weird kids. Socially awkward, nerdy, artsy, bookish. That sweet, odd kid who never fit in is still present in my spirit, and I know there are so many folks (especially in Austin) who can relate. Folks who feel distant in a yoga setting where the expectation is to be smiley and outgoing and surface-level. And I know there are people looking for something more, something different, odd, extraordinary, and fantastic.

So I've been dreaming up a yoga space that embraces authenticity, creativity, compassion, and depth, but without the new age mysticism and romanticization of the "exotic". A space where folks can be nerds, artists, collectivists, and awkward together! That's what I want Weird Warrior Yoga Group to be.

Does this resonate with you? I'd love for you to consider being a part of our group.

Focus on DHARANA & DHYANA

Practice inner alignment through concentration & meditation.

In Dharana (concentration), the mind learns to hold attention on a single object; in Dhyana (meditation), this focus becomes uninterrupted. These practices develop clarity, equanimity, and insight, leading toward the deeper goals of yoga. Our group meditations offer a supportive web of shared intention that reminds us we are not alone on the path.

Focus on KRIYA & CREATIVITY

Let practice become a form of action & expression.

The practice of yoga invites the integration of all aspects of self, including creative expression. Inspired by the teachings of kriya (action), svadhyaya (self-inquiry), and sankalpa (intention), we explore movement, writing, voice, art, activism, and more as authentic forms of practice, duty, and discovery.

Focus on ASANA

Observe the body & mind through postural yoga.

Asana is the third limb of yoga—steady, comfortable posture. Through physical practice, we cultivate strength, flexibility, and balance while preparing the body and nervous system for deeper internal work. Our offerings range from grounding Hatha and dynamic Vinyasa, to stretchy Yin and calming Restorative—all tools for self-awareness.

Focus on SANGHA & HEALING

Find peace in the presence of community.

Yoga is not only a personal path—it is relational. The concept of sangha (community) supports healing through connection, reflection, and mutual support. Our offerings on community & healing recognize that growth, and ultimately liberation, are nurtured in spaces of trust, care, and collective wisdom.
